David “Dave” Rennhack

David “Dave” Rennhack was born on August 20, 1944, in Columbus, Wisconsin, to Elverna A. (Straseski) and Frederick G. Rennhack. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1962 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving until 1968. In 1976, he continued his commitment to his country by joining the National Guard, where he found his calling in the 1-147 Aviation Helicopter Unit. Over a long and distinguished career, Dave rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major, retiring in April 1998. His service was marked by exceptional leadership, dedication, and selfless devotion to duty.

On August 16, 1996, Dave, married the love of his life, Rebecca Ranum, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Their marriage, built on deep friendship and love, spanned over 28 wonderful years.

Dave cherished life’s simple pleasures—mowing the lawn, tending to his John Deere equipment, cruising in his Corvette, and sipping a cold Pepsi. Known for his sharp sense of humor, he loved spending time with his family, friends, and beloved cats. He proudly joked about quitting smoking “hundreds of times” and was always up for a good parade, whether as a participant or a spectator.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Ranum Rennhack; his children, Lisa (Todd) Birkrem, Kimberly Rennhack, Jacquelyn (Troy) Frank, and Samantha (Tim) Kershner; 13 grandchildren; and his sisters, Patti (Bob) Boness and Pam (Richard) Schoen. He is also survived by his extended family, including brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dennis Rennhack, and his father-in-law, Wm Ranum.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at American Legion Post #360, 417 Main Street, Waunakee, WI. The ceremony will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon. There will not be a viewing, and a private burial will take place at a later date.

Dave will be remembered for his service, his humor, his devotion to family, and his unwavering love of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
