A male cardinal introduces his brood to a feeder in Reedsburg last week. In this situation, the father was cracking open black-oil sunflower seeds with his beak and feeding them to one young male and female, who followed him around with fluttery wings and open mouths. The male also encouraged them to find their own seeds and showed them how to collect them. The mother eventually showed up to also have a meal. The adult couple has been seen year-round in residential neighborhoods near the downtown.
