I was sitting on over a billion years of history and it was still warm. The beaches of Minnesota's North Shore are composed of rocks of all sizes and shapes and colors. Almost all of them were born 1.1 billion years ago when a series of volcanic eruptions poured lava from a rift in the earth's plates.
