Nature's lovely gifts of early spring do a lot to compensate for the ugliness of society right now. The cardinals and the titmice are singing their spring songs and soon the bluebirds and the song sparrows will be back. The squirrels are feasting on the maple sap that has begun to run and some tree buds are already swelling.
