On Jan. 14, 16 Sauk Prairie Middle School students competed to secure a spot in the SCRIPPS Regional Spelling Bee. Sebastien Friou and Charlie Endres were the top two spellers and will advance to the Regional Meet, which will be held in Portage on Feb. 4.

Sauk Prairie High School was evacuated Jan. 28. due to a bomb threat. An hour and a half after the students were evacuated, they were allowed back into the school. According to Jerry Strunz, Chief of the Sauk Prairie Police Department, the FBI is involved in investigating the incident.

The Wisconsin Heights Class of 2021 will be hosting the annual Prom Fashion Show on Sunday, Feb.  9, from 1-3 p.m. The show is held in the Wisconsin Heights cafeteria, with tickets available at the door for $5. The theme this year is Under the Stars. Over 40 models will strut their stuff on the runway for this annual fundraiser.

A wind generator has joined the solar panel in powering the Merrimac Community Charter School barn. Students learn about renewable energy and sustainable practices through the barnyard project. The December Above The Line theme was “Responsibility.”  The students listed below received awards on Friday, December 20th, from their classroom teacher or staff who felt that they are an individual that is responsible.  Congratulations to these students!

The Dec. 9 Wisconsin Heights School Board meeting was a busy one. The board discussed new initiatives, upgrades and the school district’s report card, among other things. 

The Sauk Prairie School District will be holding community info sessions on the proposed Recreation/Athletics/Aquatics and High School Projects. Everyone is welcome. The dates are: Thursday, Jan. 9, 5:00-7:00 p.m., HS North Gym Lobby. Enter door N26 from the student parking lot.

The Sauk Prairie School Board will be facing a $65 million decision January 20, 2020, on whether or not to bring an official referendum in the hands of voting residents.

On Nov. 18 the Sauk Prairie school board members announced the results of the referendum survey that was done in the community. The survey was distributed to the entire community and asked questions around the new construction projects that would benefit from the referendum.
