Sauk Prairie School District refuses to hand over public documents

The Sauk Prairie School District is refusing to release a copy of its Crisis Manual, or Continuity of Organizational Operations Plan, to the Star News. The manual was approved by the board at their May 8 meeting. The manual is a public document, and the public and press are entitled to a copy, per state statute.

The Wisconsin Heights School District has been developing a facilities plan that will address all school buildings. Both Black Earth and Mazomanie Elementary Schools are in need of significant renovation. The Middle/High School needs heating and ventilation repair.

Over 50 percent of Wisconsin Heights residents prefer a single campus

The Wisconsin Heights School District reviewed the results of their community survey at April’s meeting. There was a response rate of 28 percent. The survey’s purpose was the evaluate the District’s residents’ feelings about a referendum to fix the schools aging infrastructure, and whether to move to a one-campus District.

Sauk Prairie seniors to get drive-in graduation ceremony next week

Sauk Prairie High School seniors will get a graduation ceremony this year after all--on the original date of May 29. On Monday night, the school board unanimously approved a drive-in ceremony plan engineered by Superintendent Jeff Wright and High School Principal Chad Harnisch.

SP School District Breaks ground on Merrimac expansion

The Sauk Prairie School District broke ground on its $65 million school improvement project last Wednesday. While most of the funds will be utilized for an expansion and renovation of Sauk Prairie High School, the referendum also authorized the expansion of Merrimac Community Charter School.
