Gymnastics team looks to a new and different season

The River Valley/Barneveld High School gymnastics team will be led by Julie Kuhse who is returning to the position of head coach. This is the 39th year for Kuhse, who has been a volunteer, head coach, assistant coach, and back to head coach over the years.

Girls basketball looks to get competitive this year

The River Valley High School varsity basketball team will be led by head coach Brent Johnson, who will be assisted by Eric Briehl. This is Johnson’s fifth year as head coach and 22nd year coaching overall. Last year’s record for the Hawks was 3-20, with the girls losing in the first round of regionals to Westby.

Boys basketball team is being led by coach Luke Thatcher

The River Valley High School boys basketball team will be led for the eighth year in a row by head coach Luke Thatcher. This year he will be assisted by Darby Blakley, Steve Stettler, and Justin Stanek. The Blackhawks lost Josh Maier, Joe Ryan, and Will Jewell to graduation last year.

Girls basketball team takes three losses

The River Valley High School girls basketball team had three games to end December and unfortunately were unable to come away with a victory in the contests. “Two of the three games were extremely competitive and the Blackhawks played at a high level for large portions of the games,” said River Valley head coach Brent Johnson.

Wrestlers win dual at home

The River Valley High School boys varsity wrestling team hosted Brodhead/Juda last Wednesday night. The dual had River Valley coming out on top 45-21.

Sauk Prairie’s year in sports

Thrilling victories. Magnificent individual performances. Memories to last a lifetime. These are the norm inside the sports programs at Sauk Prairie High School. But there was nothing normal about 2020. The sports world came to a screeching halt on March 12 due to COVID-19. And it wasn’t until August that sports started again at Sauk Prairie.

RWD wins Monk’s Cheeseburger Classic title after loss to Edgewood

Those associated with the Reecsburg/Wisconsin Dells/Mauston boys high school hockey co-op knew they’d have their hands full with Madison Edgewood coming to RACA last week and although RWD played well, Edgewood headed back to Madison with a hard-fought 3-1 victory.
