Agonizingly close.

That’s how Sauk Prairie’s winless girls softball team must feel about last week.

The Eagles lost all three games, but two of those three losses were by a single run.

Sauk Prairie hoped to break into the win column, but instead slipped to 0-20 overall, 0-13 in the Badger Small Conference.

It’s a turnaround that is just what the doctor ordered for the River Valley Blackhawks baseball team. R-V won only once in the first 13 games of the season, but wins have been coming their way of late as the WIAA Playoffs kick off in the coming days.

The members of the Ithaca/Weston track and field teams are looking to this week’s Ridge and Valley Conference Meet but first up was the Sparky Reynolds Invite Friday in Boscobel with 21 schools competing.

Reedsburg experienced a bit of an offensive slump for five games at mid-season during this high school baseball season, a surprise when you consider the roster has talented and for the most part, experienced hitters. The bats have come alive, however, just in time for the most important week of the conference season coming up.

The Cazenovia Reds fell by a count of 9-2 at home against Ashton Sunday to kick off the Home Talent Baseball Sunday League season in the Northern Section.

The Beavers had one final tune-up prior to this week’s Badger Small Conference Track and Field Meet and that was in Tomah last Tuesday for the Justinger Invitational, although some athletes did not participate in as many events as they will next week.

Reedsburg saw a three-match win streak come to an end last Tuesday in Badger Small Girls Soccer action with a hard-fought 2-1 loss in Stoughton against the Vikings.

Reedsburg finishes the conference boys tennis dual match season at 4-2 after last week’s 7-0 loss to conference dual champion Edgewood in Madison. Edgewood ends up 6-0 for the dual season, Baraboo second at 5-1 with Reedsburg third.

The May 16 soccer game at RAHS will include Alumni Night, a celebration of 31 years of local girls soccer.

The game against Richland Center will begin at 5 p.m.

All past alumni girls soccer players and their families are invited to attend.
