Sauk Prairie’s girls track and field team won the Baraboo Relays last Friday.

The Eagles finished with 92.4 points and edged runner-up Baraboo (91.5). Beaver Dam (78.9), Reedsburg (71.9) and Madison La Follette (66) rounded out the top five at the nine-team meet.

Reedsburg stood at No. 3 in the first WBCA Coaches Poll in D-2 High School Baseball for the season when last week began with the Beavers coming off two huge wins over defending state champion Madison Edgewood.

Raindrops were dodged last week for the River Valley Blackhawks on the softball diamond with five games played over the course of six days.

River Valley has proven to be an offensive powerhouse at times this season on the soccer with the girls scoring four goals or more five times already this season. Last week, the Blackhawks also showed their defensive prowess as well with shutout wins over Galena, Illinois (a conference win), and against Wisconsin Heights, both by 2-0 scores.

Reedsburg has tasted victory in six of the last eight matches they’ve played on the soccer pitch with the Beaver girls coming off a late week victory at Beaver Dam.

Weston faced two of the toughest opponents they’ll see all season on back-to-back days last week on the softball diamond and the youthful and inexperienced Silver Eagles squad took it on the chin against a pair of title contenders, Ithaca in their own Ridge and Valley Conference, and Hillsboro from the Scenic Bluffs Conference.

Weston still has big some games coming up this month but the Silver Eagle baseball team won its biggest game of the season last Monday in a tight 2-0 win over Ithaca.

Scoring runs proved to be an issue for the River Valley Blackhawks on the baseball diamond last week in non-conference losses to Fennimore and Lakeside Lutheran.

High school track and field athletes don’t usually compete on back-to-back day but it happened for the Ithaca/Weston co-op over the weekend with the River Valley Alumni Invite on Friday and the Ginger Morrey Invite at Riverdale High School on Saturday.

It was a rare quiet week for the Reedsburg Beaver boys tennis team to close out April after a jam-packed schedule to begin the season. Reedsburg’s lone dual match last week was a conference affair, and a successful one at that, as the Beavers posted a 6-1 victory at Sauk-Prairie.
