Nature and Society, Dec. 4, 2025

The signs leading up to Thanksgiving were not auspicious. The oven door broke and would not close.  We lost water pressure so showers were impossible and toilet tanks refused to fill. To top it off, Elsie had caught a mouse and was happily flinging the corpse around when I went to bed.

Clergy Corner: Christmas gift (Dec. 4, 2025)

Have you found the perfect Christmas gift for that special someone yet? If so, what makes it perfect? Is it perfect because it’s unique, like handcrafted pottery? A View of the Valley, Dec. 4, 2025

I don’t always cook with paprika. I’ve never, for example, put paprika in or on pasties. That seems like it would almost be a crime. But I admit I do use it in a lot of things I cook.

Letter: Politicians don’t know what it’s like to live on welfare

President Trump made a most ridiculous statement, when he claimed: "A significant number of people are quitting their jobs, because it's easier to live-off welfare."

Letter: Do not blame ICE for trying to clean up illegal immigration problems

There is a common thread running through letters like Carol May's November 13 comments asking Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister not to cooperate with ICE agents charged with enforcing our immigration laws:  Absolutely no criticism of a federal government that created our immigration crisis in the first place, most especially "President" Biden's a

Letter: A human rights test for Democrats

The World Jewish Congress has given its highest recognition, the Theodor Herzl Award, to Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), primarily for his support for Israel.
