GUEST COLUMN: Schools must be welcoming places

We all know the power of a warm welcome, how a smile from a colleague can make your day or an honest “how are you?” and a listening ear can make you feel connected and cared for.

Letter: Will we be fooled again?

A few weeks ago, Sen. Marklein was asked to respond to the extreme financial crisis Richland County is facing. He had the audacity to say it is a local issue implying he has no responsibility to address it. Marklein has been in the Wisconsin legislature since 2010, first as a Representative then elected to the Senate in 2014.

Letter: Our republic is in danger

Is there any hope anymore for a decent, truthful, honest, working government? Is there any hope that our Senators and Representatives will work for US, their constituents, instead of their large monied donors? Is there any hope that the Supreme Court will not allow a justice who lied at their confirmation hearing to be seated any longer?

Clergy Corner: Stain remover

“Want a tough stain out?” That’s how the old commercial began. It ended by claiming a product that could get the job done. There are lots of sprays, foams, and cleaners that companies promise are the answer to our coffee, wine, and pet stain problems. But can any of those products deliver?

Letter: Who’s to blame?

Joe Biden took a stable economy and transformed it into a process by which the rich got stinking richer.  The American consumer is losing, but that also means someone is winning. The “who” is the real question and problem, as they control the strings of the puppet.

Letter: Times sure have changed!

I was looking for information about how to service my 2017 Ford C-Max’s engine so I looked in a 1983 Chilton’s Automotive Service Manual. It really had nothing helpful. I guess things have changed a lot since then.

Letter: Ask more questions about media coverage

Art Naebig asked in the June 16 edition why Fox News refuses to carry the Jan. 6 Committee reports looking into what some say was an attack on our democracy.
