The Book Nook

Thanks to a Special Person   In lieu of a book review, I’d like to thank outgoing Black Earth Library Director Carolyn Shaffer by sharing some of her many accomplishments since she was hired in 2007.  Her dedication and ability to make a difference resulted in many positive changes for our area and deserve recognition.

Letters to the Editor

Dear editor, When I moved to Iowa County more than 15 years ago, the entire county, except for three small villages on its western border, was in one state Assembly District, District 51. The legislative representative from the district was able to stay in touch with the people in the county, got to know their concerns, and was accountable.

Letter: An epistle to Tammy Baldwin

Now that Democrats have carte blanche for governing and legislation, I think you and they would do well to remember your obligation to the people of Wisconsin and the nation.

GUEST COLUMN: The economic outlook for agriculture has improved

Each year, I eagerly await the Agricultural Economic Outlook Forum that is hosted by the Renk Agribusiness Institute at the University of Wisconsin Madison. This forum is always a terrific way to see the data side of agriculture in Wisconsin. It also provides a view of the potential for the future of this important economy.
