Thanks to all of you, the No Kings Rally in Dodgeville on Saturday, June 14 far exceeded our expectations!

The River Valley Community, once again, stepped up to help those in need. 72 units of blood were collected at our drive on June 6th. These donations have the potential of saving the lives of 216 people!

Here’s the latest on the status of our Sauk County Health Care Center, our cherished county nursing home since 1871, and the news is NOT good!

It’s probably a coincidence that Father’s Day falls during June Dairy Month, don’t you think? I mean, the two have nothing to do with each other so it must be a coincidence. Another happy coincidence is that strawberries are also a June thing, as are blackberries and, with a little luck, asparagus and rhubarb will still be popping.

Nature and society are inexorably intertwined, at least as long as human beings exist. We depend on each other in a multitude of ways that we humans generally fail to understand. I agree with some readers that the human population is straining the resources of earth and forcing many other species into extinction.

On Saturday, June 14, a massive military parade costing 45 million dollars, ordered by President Trump, will take place in Washington. This kind of parade is more commonly staged in authoritarian countries like Russia.

We don’t have kings in America!  Please join Indivisible Southwest Wisconsin at the Rural No Kings Rally in Dodgeville Saturday June 14th from noon-2 pm to protest the abuses of the Trump Administration.

We are all the descendants of immigrants. Even the ancestors of ‘Native Americans’ came from somewhere else. Today, the MAGA folks are totally against immigration. Granted, there are lots of immigrants who have entered the USA illegally but they aren’t criminals, rapists, drug dealers and mentally ill as they are painted.

It wasn’t even June yet when I got my first sunburn, and on my scalp, of all places.

Like a lot of people this time of year, I forgot to shield my skin from UV rays. It’s an easy mistake to make this time of year, especially with how chilly it’s been up until now.

Still, you can burn even if it’s only 60 degrees outside.
