The Reedsburg Pirates and Cazenovia Reds were both to open their Sunday League Home Talent Baseball schedules on Sunday, May 17 but steady rains during the day postponed both games with no make-up dates known.

Weston got back above the .500 mark in Ridge and Valley Conference Baseball at 5-4 with a 20-4 win at La Farge last Thursday. Isaac Jennings, Brady Westphal and Trevor Westphal all had two hits each while Isaac Jennings led with four runs scored. Gavin Kast belted a HR and led with three rbi’s as well.

The track and field programs in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference, including the River Valley Blackhawks, got a final chance to compete with one another last week before the end of season SWC Meet as the conference schools gathered in Prairie du Chien last Tuesday with no team scores kept.

It was rare to have a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday off last week but the Ithaca/Weston softball team got some time on the practice field, and it worked out for them when they returned to action faraday and recorded a 5-2 non-conference win over Cashton in a well-played game at Ithaca High School.

River Valley hosted arch-rival Richland Center last Tuesday on the baseball diamond and things didn’t go as hoped for the Blackhawks in a 9-2 loss as R-C notched its first win of the conference season. It was a 1-1 game after the first inning, but the visiting Hornets controlled the rest of the game.

Ithaca/Weston went up against some larger schools in a Track and Field Invite Friday at River Valley High School and had some success on the track and in field events as well.

It was a week of mixed results in the SWC for River Valley girls soccer. The good news, a 3-0 win over Richland Center. The bad news, a 2-1 loss to Galena, Illinois to begin the week.

Win number three for the Reedsburg Beaver girls soccer squad came about on Friday with a solid 2-1 win over Beaver Dam at RAHS.

Reedsburg had not lost a conference dual on the tennis court this spring until this past week when a strong Edgewood team took care of business against the Beavers, 6-1, in Madison last Tuesday.

Reedsburg held its position as the number three team in Badger Small Boys Golf after placing third in a conference mini-meet last Tuesday at the Reedsburg Country Club.
