The River Valley High School power lifting team traveled to the Wisconsin High School Powerlifting Association state meet in Appleton over the weekend at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center. Hayden Tafs competed in the 198 pound weight class and finished tied for 30th place out of 41 lifters in his weight class.

The 2024 River Valley Youth Ball Signup is officially open to children in the River Valley area who wish to play baseball or softbal this summerl. Registration ends March 22. 4K and 5K are eligible for T-Ball. First and second grade kids are eligible for coach pitch, co-ed ball. Grades three through eight are eligible for softball or baseball.

The River Valley Boosters are once again seeking nominations for inductees into the “Ted Lins Wall of Honor” located at the high school. Nominees should have contributed to the betterment of the River Valley schools since the school began in 1962. Applications are being taken now through April 1 and are available at the high school office.   

MOUNT HOREB — Disappointment. Frustration. Confusion. Those are some of the feelings Sara Nehring experienced this winter during her “journey” — her word to describe it — on the vault. Another meet. Another unsatisfactory score. Why weren’t things clicking?

Their season had just ended, and Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team was already thinking about next year. Those thoughts were filled with hope, excitement and optimism.

Bring on next season. That’s how Tyler Fuchs and his Wisconsin Heights girls basketball team felt after their 2023-24 season came to an end on Feb. 20. Fifth-seeded Brodhead rolled past the Vanguards, 78-40, in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal. Wisconsin Heights lost its final eight games of the season and finished the year 4-18 overall.

They finished the regular season with a bang. Now, Sauk Prairie’s boys basketball team hopes to make some noise in the postseason. The Eagles rolled past Madison Edgewood, 69-44, on Feb. 22 in their regular season finale. Sauk Prairie finished the regular season 12-12 overall and 8-6 in the Badger Small Conference, which was good for third place.

They’ve picked the worst time of the year to go ice cold. But Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team is hoping there’s still time to heat back up.

 

The River Valley youth wrestling children wrapped up their season this past weekend going to three meets. River Valley kids traveled to Sauk Prairie, Oxford, and Rio.
