RV/B gymnasts travel to sectionals

The River Valley/ Barneveld (RVB) gymnastics team traveled to Platteville for the division two sectional. RVB took eighth place with 111.375 team points. Dodgeville co-op took first with 136.275 and Reedsburg took second with 135.200 points.

Nachreiner competes in state meet

River Valley junior Wyatt Nachreiner traveled to the WIAA state wrestling meet this past week. Nachreiner competed in division two in the 150 pound weight class. Jacob Durocher of Wrightstown (44-11) won by decision over Wyatt Nachreiner (36-11) in the first round of competition.

Power lifting is River Valley’s newest sport

River Valley’s newest competitive sport is power lifting. High school teacher Joseph Woodhouse is the coach for the team. The seven students currently competing are Reagan Sackett, Hannah Burchfield, Gavin Graves, Alex Garcia, Sebastian Histed, Hayden Tafs and Isaac Ziebarth.

Girls basketball closes out season

The River Valley High School varsity girls basketball team played their final game of the season this past week against Big Foot. River Valley was down 28-8, rallied, and narrowed the gap to 31-21. However, the girls ran out of steam and lost 47-31.  River Valley was led by Brooklyn Stokes with nine points and Lexi DeViney with eight points.

Boys basketball heads to regionals

The River Valley High School varsity boys basketball played two games this past week. The week started on Monday night in Mauston. River Valley took a 57-47 loss that night. Hughson Thatcher and Sam Pape led the Blackhawks bringing in 13 and 11 points respectively. Thursday night the boys hosted Prairie du Chien.

The Reedsburg Schools Special Olympics basketball team won both games at the regional tournament in Verona on Feb. 25 to advance to the sectional tournament, which will be at UW-Stevens Point on March 17. The Beavers' victories were vs. West Madison and Tomah. Weston boys fall to Kickapoo, open post-season this week at North Crawford

Weston saluted its seniors last Thursday night as the Silver Eagle boys basketball team hosted Kickapoo in the final conference game of the season and the final home game on Senior Night at Weston High School.

Reedsburg Wrestling was certainly well represented over the weekend at the Kohl Center in Madison, which was the site for the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament.

Nolen Waldner comes away 1-2 at WIAA State Wrestling at Kohl Center

Nolen Waldner was able to experience victory in his first ever WIAA State Tournament wrestling match last Thursday evening for the Ithaca/Weston co-op in D-3 action at the Kohl Center in Madison.
