River Valley got in some action over the holiday break in girls basketball play as the Blackhawks, under the direction of Coach Joe Woodhouse, fell by a final count of 47-42 vs. Onalaska Luther as part of a tournament in Wisconsin Dells on Dec. 30.
Reedsburg went nearly two weeks without a high school girls basketball game until playing on back-to-back days this past week at Sauk-Prairie’s Holiday Classic. The Beavers routed Portage on Dec.
For the first time since Dec. 16, the members of the Ithaca/Weston girls basketball team played a game on Monday to start this week but unfortunately it was a 72-45 setback at Boscobel. I/W hit on four shots from three-point range but only got to the foul line five times in the game.
The New Year couldn’t have started much better for the River Valley Blackhawks boys basketball squad as Valley took care of the home floor Friday night for an easy 54-29 win over the Brodhead Cardinals in non-conference action.

Coach Rob Bautch and the Reedsburg Beaver wrestling squad always look forward to their annual trip to Oshkosh at the On the Water Invite, which took place last week at UW-Oshkosh.
The River Valley High School gymnasts showed marked improvement in their second meet of the season this past Friday in Westby at the Tami Effinger Invite. River Valley improved its team score to 111.65, good for sixth place among the eight teams, and there were plenty of individual highlights as well.

The Reedsburg Beaver girls wrestling team won a team title at a tournament for the second time this season this past Saturday, capturing first place in a field of nine schools at La Crescent, Minnesota.
