The Beavers looked to stay sharp, as best they could, over the holiday break with a pair of boys basketball games last week at JAG in Wisconsin Dells against Shiocton and Bangor.

There is no school this week but the girls hoops season will continue for the Reedsburg Beavers with two games at Sauk over the holiday break against La Crosse teams. On Monday, the Beavers will face Logan and Tuesday features a matchup vs. Central with Sauk-Prairie taking om those two teams as well both days.

Reedsburg’s high school boys wrestlers will see the best competition they’ll face throughout the entire regular season slate this week at the Oshkosh Lourdes on the Water Invite.

It’s a quiet week in the classroom but a busy one on the ice for the skaters on the Badger Lightning girls hockey co-op with three games scheduled, all out of conference.

River Valley sports a 4-3 record in the boys basketball season as we enter the New Year with the Blackhawks set to host Brodhead Friday night around 7 p.m.

The Weston Silver Eagles don’t return to game action on the basketball court on the boys side until a Jan. 6 conference game at home against Ithaca. Because of a postponement and a re-schedule, the Silver Eagles have played only five games to date with a 1-4 overall record, highlighted by a win over Coulee Christian.

For the first time since Dec. 12, Weston played a high school boys basketball team played a game on Monday night this week but came up short in a 56-25 setback against the Necedah Cardinals in non-conference action.

The Reedsburg Beaver girls wrestling squad is in its first year of having its own team at RAHS and the girls won their first-ever team championship last Tuesday finishing first place at a girls tournament in Fort Atkinson.

River Valley was slated to have two home games this week in boys basketball action and the first one was a 61-50 win over Reedsburg on Tuesday in non-conference action.

Coach Mark Simon’s Beaver girls basketball team notched a much-needed victory on Tuesday night last week, downing the Portage Warriors, 42-17, for the first conference win of the season.
