River Valley’s wrestling squad was to begin their competition week at Poynette on Thursday but the potential for bad weather wiped out that scheduled quad and the event may not be made up. Saturday featured a trip to Richland Center for a 20-team Boys Invite with River Valley finishing with a 10^th place team finish.

After a postponement on Thursday at Poynette, the focus for the Ithaca/Weston wrestlers on the boys side shifted to Saturday’s Richland Center Invite.

Edgewood has established itself as one of the truly elite boys high school hockey programs in the state in recent years and that fact was on display in Verona last Tuesday. Edgewood took care of business in a Badger Conference game against the Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells/Mauston co-op with a 10-0 victory.

Friday night was not a pleasant road trip for the River Valley Blackhawk Girls Basketball squad. A visit to Lancaster resulted in a 72-39 loss in SWC play, dropping Valley to 1-1 in league play and 5-3 overall.

Many Reedsburg Beaver wrestlers had plenty of matches this past week and many of them recorded many wins in another successful week for the program.

Reedsburg made the short trip to Spring Green on Tuesday night to battle the River Valley Blackhawks in a non-conference boys basketball matchup. For the third straight game, the Beavers got off to a slow start offensively, and despite a strong second half, Reedsburg came up short in the end with a 61-50 loss.

It was a 2-2 draw Friday night as the Badger Lightning girls hockey team squared off with the Stoughton Icebergs in a Badger Conference matchup at Sauk-Prairie’s home rink. The Lightning sits at 1-3-1 overall with four of the five games decided by two goals or less.

Ithaca/Weston wrapped up the pre-Christmas portion of their girls hoops schedule in this, the first year of the varsity level co-op, with a Ridge and Valley loss at Ithaca last week, 74-39, against Wauzeka. The visitors took control early and built a 44-20 halftime lead and cruised to the win.

Reedsburg earned a win on Friday night in what will probably be their biggest dual meet of the high school wrestling season in Mount Horeb.
