Weston misses out on baseball title with third straight loss

Weston looked to be the team in Ridge and Valley Conference Baseball for most of the season and it looked as though they would win a conference title in the sport for the first time since 1997.

River Valley softball travels to Westby to begin post-season

Coach Jane Briehl’s River Valley softball squad picked up another win in conference play with some of the best softball of the season in a 5-3 win over Platteville last Tuesday. R-V found themselves down 3-1 in the fourth inning but rallied with a three spot in their half of the fourth before adding an insurance run in the sixth.

River Valley High School has not won a conference title in girls soccer since 2015 but they enter this week on the verge of doing so after last week’s 4-0 win over Richland Center, raising the league mark to 7-0-1 for the Blackhawks in the Southwest Wisconsin Conference.

Reedsburg couldn’t have had things go much better in their Sunday League opener in Home Talent Baseball over the weekend as the Pirates rolled to a 20-6 victory over visiting Waunakee at Nishan Park.

Middleton bests Sauk Prairie in Home Talent baseball opener

Middleton’s Home Talent League team opened the season with an 8-1 win over visiting Sauk Prairie on Sunday.

Brady Schmitt threw seven scoreless innings and picked up the win. Schmitt allowed just two hits, struck out eight and walked two.

Drew Farrell and Zach Thomas both threw an inning in relief.
