At last week’s Reedsburg School Board meeting, Superintendent Roger Rindo mentioned people are becoming increasingly set in their stances on COVID-19, to the point where it’s difficult to compromise. There’s an even worse side effect of this rigidity: Animosity.

As we are all aware, Fort McCoy is now housing large numbers of refugees in the process of re-settlement following their emergency evacuation from Afghanistan. Most have arrived with little but the clothes they wore.

Some thoughts on Constitution Day about the Sept. 16 edition:

In the midst of a pandemic, propagandists are denying science and the moral concept of the common good. It was a breath of fresh air to recently view Chris Wallace on FOX News via MSNBC, taking to task the Republican Mississippi Governor.

Local governments in Wisconsin rely on support from the state to fix our roads, provide fire and EMS services, and to accomplish all of the various other functions expected by our constituents.

In 2019, my neighbors and I were forced from our homes by a record 14.3 inches of rainfall. Sadly, flooding in southwest Wisconsin is becoming all too common, destroying properties, closing businesses and costing all of us for the recovery. 

Citing "an unprecedented surge in climate-related disasters," including ferocious hurricanes, devastating floods and record heat waves and wildfires, a group of 14,000 scientists from 158 countries has issued a report declaring a climate emergency.

Well, I'm not dead yet. Thanks, probably, to the kind wishes and prayers that have come my way and not to my not-so-healthy lifestyle. My lifestyle is healthier now, due to the departure of my senses of taste and smell. I have some fabulous homemade coffee ice cream in the freezer, but to eat it now would be a criminal waste. And chocolate! I ha
