Stanek column: Child bride allegations require immediate action

The latest news from Fort McCoy isn’t the most reassuring.

Several news outlets have reported the existence of child brides, or young kids married to much older men. According to the AP, some of the girls were assaulted and forced to marry the men in order to escape Afghanistan. Polygamy was also reported.

Letter: Tearing down statues is ‘childish’

When does a statue become a monument and a monument get declared a statue? Dumbed down and childish people tearing down statues swim in their writs of feel good. But, feeling good for a few moments solves the equivalence of zero. Just as with any drug user or cigarette smoker or alcoholic, the addiction validates every wrong in their mind.

Nature and Society: It's good to meet people again in-person

Love is so much better in person than it is by Zoom! It's been two Covid- filled years since I hugged my old Chicago friends! I missed the Christmas 2019 gathering and then Covid robbed us of our spring and fall and Christmas trips in 2020 and the spring trip this year.
