Eagles’ golfers on the upswing

Twelve months ago, Sauk Prairie’s boys golf team was one of the youngest and most inexperienced in the area. The Eagles took some lumps early, but made impressive strides and were playing their best golf by the end of the year. Now, the Eagles’ growing pains from last spring could pay off with a memorable 2024.

Eagles’ lacrosse takes center stage

One of the best-kept secrets for the Sauk Prairie Eagles athletics program over the years has been a sport that Zach Lare developed a passion for, first as a player and now as a first-year head coach. Beginning this spring, lacrosse joins the family of WIAA-sponsored sports, one in which Sauk Prairie has been a trailblazer of sorts.

Sauk Prairie soccer splits a pair

Sauk Prairie’s girls soccer team split its first two games of the season. The Eagles rolled past Lodi, 10-1, on April 4. Sauk Prairie then fell to defending WIAA Division 2 state champion Whitefish Bay, 3-0, last Saturday. Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ first two games.

Softball Vanguards start slow

Wisconsin Heights’ girls softball team is off to an 0-3 start. The Vanguards dropped a 15-7 decision to Pecatonica on March 29. Heights then lost a pair of games last Saturday — 14-1 to Dodgeville and 12-0 to Potosi/Cassville.

It was not full teams that represented the Reedsburg Beavers at Saturday’s Watertown Indoor Track and Field Invite but Reedsburg had plenty of strong performance none the less.

Quiet week for Weston High School athletes

The Weston Silver Eagle Baseball team will have to wait until this week to open the 2024 regular season slate as last week’s conference and regular season opener was postponed at DeSoto after some recent heavier snowfall in that area of the state made the field unfit for play last week. No make-up date has been announced.

Beavers outlast Waunakee in extras to open baseball season

Reedsburg faces many strong teams in their non-conference schedule in high school baseball this season and Waunakee certainly falls into that category but the Beavers opened the season Friday on the road against the Warriors and battled for a 6-4 win in extra innings.
