River Valley faced perhaps their most difficult opponent all season in the very first game of the boys basketball season with a home contest against state-ranked Mount Horeb, a D-2 school and the pre-season favorite in Badger Small. Mount Horeb sent the Blackhawks to a loss, 73-45, in the season opener.

River Valley matched up well with each of the first two opponents they encountered in the just underway high school girls basketball season, but in game three, the Blackhawks faced one of the top teams in Wisconsin, Argyle-Pecatonica.

For the first time, the Reedsburg Beavers will have their own separate girls wrestling squad this year, and Coach Caylee Fry, a Beaver Wrestling alum herself, is excited about the 2025-2026 season.

A former state champion has come home, so to speak, with the River Valley Blackhawks wrestling program for this season. Shane Liegel won three state titles back in the day as a River Valley wrestler and he now takes over the program as a first-year head coach.

Coach Luke Thatcher enters year 13 as the head coach of the River Valley Blackhawks boys basketball squad and is looking for a good follow-up to a strong 2024-2025 season. R-V was 14-13 overall last season and advanced to a WIAA Regional final for the first time in several seasons.
