Following a bounce-back victory of its own just two days earlier, Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team faced a Madison Edgewood squad in search of its own redemption last Saturday. The Crusaders got what they were looking for, and in the process, dealt the host Eagles their second loss in three games.

Swimmers enjoy a big week

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimming team kept on rolling last week. In a triple dual held at Jack Young Middle School in Baraboo on Jan. 12, Sauk Prairie defeated Baraboo, 105-64, and swam to an 85-85 tie with Monona Grove. The Eagles also defeated McFarland, 99-71, on Jan. 16.

Amazingly, wrestling regionals are just more than a week away. And Sauk Prairie is hoping to peak at the right time. The Eagles took a step in that direction during a 42-27 loss to Janesville Craig on Jan. 14.

Beavers rout 2 opponents in girls basketball to go 9-1 in season

After a three-day break from game action, the state-ranked Reedsburg Beaver girls basketball team took the floor twice in less than 24 hours and came away with a pair of lopsided wins over Onalaska and Portage as the Beavers improved to 9-1 for the season.

WIAA Tournament procedures for wrestling now in place for season

The WIAA has revised the WIAA Individual and Team Tournament procedures for wrestling after the WIAA Sports Medical Advisory Board and Board of Control approved an increase to eight teams gathering by Jan. 30 when the WIAA Tournament season begins amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Weston girls lose trio of games but continue to progress

Weston faced a difficult stretch in its high school girls basketball schedule in recent days and the Silver Eagles continue to show improvement although the team dropped games against three quality opponents; Royall, LaFarge and Boscobel.
