Beaver football loses close one vs. Edgewood last week

The Reedsburg Beaver football team played what was likely its final home game of the 2020 season last Friday at Millennium Field and for the third time this season, Reedsburg suffered a loss by a touchdown or less as Madison Edgewood left town with a 21-15 victory as the Beavers fell to 2-4 for the season overall.

Reedsburg Special Olympians fare well in punt, pass, kick contest

Reedsburg Special Olympics athletes have been participating in punt, pass and kick practices this fall. Normally, they play flag football but plans changed this year due to COVID-19. Athletes’ scores in three skill areas are sent to Madison to choose the top players in the state.

Eagles storm into sectionals

Call them giant killers. Goliath slayers. And be sure to call them regional champions. Sauk Prairie’s girls volleyball team just completed one of the greatest weeks in program history and will now be hosting a WIAA Division 1 sectional this week.

Two steps from state

Two down. Two to go. Sauk Prairie’s boys soccer team cruised through their WIAA Division 2 regional last week. The Eagles rolled past Mauston, 6-0, in a regional semifinal last Thursday, then posted a 5-0 win over Portage in a regional final last Saturday.

Boerger sprints to state

Hard work. Determination. Talent. Jack Boerger has them all. And now, Sauk Prairie’s cross country standout is headed to the WIAA Division 1 state meet. Boerger finished second at the Portage Sectional last Saturday and earned a trip to the state meet, which will be held at Arrowhead High School this Saturday.

Second verse, same as the first

The sequel was no better than the original. And that was bad news for Sauk Prairie’s football team. The Eagles hosted Baraboo last Friday and fell to the Thunderbirds, 35-0. The game was moved to Sauk Prairie’s new turf stadium due to poor field conditions at Baraboo. The teams also met on Sept. 25 and Baraboo prevailed there, 21-3.
