It was a banner year for Sauk Prairie’s boys’ and girls’ sports teams, which created many highlights and lifetime memories in 2019.
The Eagles were competitive in the Badger North Conference with the boys swimming, cross country and soccer teams all winning conference titles.
It took a few weeks for Sauk Prairie’s boys basketball team to field a full-squad after some early-season injuries played a role in an 0-4 start.
But senior forward Trevor Spray scored a career-best 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lift the host Eagles to a 59-51 victory over Mount Horeb in a Badger North Conference game on Dec. 17.
On ‘Rock the Rink’ night, the Sauk Prairie Area Recreation Center Ice Arena was packed and ready for a matchup between two of the leading contenders for the Badger North Conference boys’ hockey title.

The Vanguards defeated Dodgeville, 61-47, last Friday. Heights also dropped a 77-48 decision to Lakeside Lutheran on Dec. 10.
Heights is now 3-1 on the season.

The third annual Vanguard Volleyball tournament on will be held on Dec. 28. You can choose players to represent a year or a combination of years.
The entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt. If you’ve played before and don’t need a shirt, the cost is $10 to play.
Austin Rider weighed in at more than 60 pounds under the heavyweight limit at the 55th annual Sun Prairie Bob Downing Scramble last Saturday.
But that didn’t make a difference in the outcome as the Sauk Prairie senior earned his first-ever tournament title, pinning his way to the championship at 285 pounds.
Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights recorded three first-place finishes, while Baraboo claimed two titles at the annual Badger North Conference Relays held at Jack Young Middle School on Dec. 10.
But Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights and host Baraboo shared the team championship with 100 points each. McFarland finished a close third with 94 points.
