Letter: Why is river so jammed?

Spring is here…and so are the fallen trees and branches in the Baraboo River. Why won't someone clean the river up to help prevent spring floods? Who would do this? I thought the Army Corps of Engineers used to clean rivers. Is there a solution to this problem?  Surely, we don't want another flood this summer or at any time during the year.

Letter: Thanks to those who supported nursing run/walk

Thank you to Reedsburg and the surrounding communities for your support of the 1st Annual Celebrate a Nurse 5k/1 Mile event at Madison College – Reedsburg.  We didn’t let a few sprinkles of rain dampen our spirits and what a tremendous turnout of nurses and supporters!

Letter: It pays to be a politician

Letter: Feel-good society goes too far

We live in a feel-good society. Feel-good comes with consequences, at times depriving others their right to feel good moments.

Drunk drivers, drug users, smokers, gamblers, speeders and others throw caution to the winds of consequence causing victims and tons collateral damage each year.

Mother Nature was very good to me on Mother’s Day, bless her. With her strong south winds, she is blowing lots of birds our way, including many species of warblers. This will be the prime week to spot spring migrants.

STANEK COLUMN: Follow teacher’s advice and keep eye on your own work

Years ago, I worked with a man who bristled whenever someone looked over his shoulder at his computer screen. It was practically a phobia for him, and we all knew to stand to the side when collaborating with him. He was such a nice man and worked way too hard so none of us had issues giving him some space.

Your Right to Know: Ask lawmakers for records they delete

John Foust. (Submitted photo)

If a legislator deletes an email, is it truly gone? Not necessarily.

On March 10, Dane County Circuit Judge Valerie Bailey-Rihn ordered Assembly Speaker Robin Vos to search for deleted emails that should have been preserved after an open records request from American Oversight, a watchdog group.

Geiger Counter

S’mores Magazine   Being on the cover of Forbes magazine is a horrendous life goal. The only way to get there is to have a lot of money and having a lot of money is the easiest way to be miserable, vapid and depressed. Yet Forbes is name dropped in pop songs all the time as a vital waypoint of success.  This is the world.
