The bear cub...   My daughter, who is seven, recently put on a sweatshirt, pulled the hood down low over her face, and pretended to gaze vacantly into an imaginary phone in her hand, oblivious to the magnificent world around her.  “Look at me, dad,” she said in an apathetic monotone, her best impersonation of a dullard. “I’m a teenager.”

Stanek column: Taliban is reminder to defend your rights

Fight now or flee later. That seems to be the nature of countries.

Images of Afghan refugees packing planes and Taliban terrorists hoisting guns should be burned into everyone’s memory. This is what happens when too much power is given to one group of people. It’s what happens when extremism isn’t stopped from the start.

Poll shows concern for Delta variant

Wisconsin newspaper readers have expressed their worries about the COVID-19 Delta variant.

Out of 760 respondents, 49 percent said they were very concerned about the variant. Another 28 percent said they were somewhat concerned, and 22 percent said they weren’t worried at all. Remaining respondents weren’t sure.

Letter: Masks should be required in schools

I encourage all area school boards to create a policy to mandate mask wearing by all students, staff, administrators and visitors, including those involved in sports activities.
