The Friends of the Spring Green Community Library would like to thank everyone who made the annual community-wide garage sale a success. Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers, participants, and library staff, we raised over $1,600 to support the library’s programs.

There’s an old saying: If you're able to remain cool and calm while everyone around you is freaking out, maybe you just don’t understand the situation.

I have been driving little red squirrels around and I have to say, they are not very gracious passengers. They squeak and hiss and even growl at me as we go. They have earned their transport by eating into my house and rocketing around in the walls.

When I was a kid, we Americans were constantly comparing our way of life to that of the Soviet Union. How, we wondered, could that nation’s citizens tolerate the corruption, the oppression, the downright shoddiness of their daily existence?

Recently the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office has been asked about the housing of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) Detainees in the Sauk County Jail.

There is a bumper crop of cucumbers this year. I mean – holy cow. Cucs everywhere. It’s as bad as zucchini. I have friends who sneak them onto people’s porches (mine) and scurry off before they are caught at it. Not that I’m not grateful but it worries me a little. If cucs are this abundant, what are zucchinis doing?

I thought I was going insane.

As I walked through the kitchen, I wondered, “How can that potato already be done? Didn’t I put it in a minute ago?”

Turns out, my brain was fine. The microwave, however, was not.
