Season ends for Eagles’ runners

Andy Sherman was pulled in two different directions. And that made life trickier than usual for Sauk Prairie’s cross country coach last weekend. The Eagles’ teams competed in two different divisions — and in two different sectionals — for the first time in school history.

Eagles’ swimmers roll

Sauk Prairie’s girls swimming and diving team defeated Portage/Poynette, 97-56, in its final Badger Small Conference dual meet of the season. The Eagles ended their dual meet season with an overall record of 3-6 and a Badger Small Conference record of 3-5.

Two down, two to go

Otis Andres (11) and Sauk Prairie’s boys soccer team won a WIAA Division 2 regional last weekend and are now just two steps away from a state tournament berth. The second-seeded Eagles defeated seventh-seeded Reedsburg, 6-0, in a regional semifinal on Oct. 22. Sauk Prairie then edged third-seeded Baraboo, 3-2, in a regional final last Saturday.

Season ends for Heights’ XC teams

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys cross country team finished in 12th place at the 16-team WIAA Division 2 Deerfield/Cambridge Sectional last Saturday. The Vanguards’ girls were 14th out of 16 teams.

End of the road

River Lubchansky and the Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys soccer team had their season come to an end last week. The ninth-seeded Vanguards defeated eighth-seeded Central Wisconsin Christian, 5-3, in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal on Oct. 24. Heights/Barneveld then fell to Lake Country Lutheran, 8-0, in a regional final on Oct. 26.

Silver Eagles play well but fall twice in Ridge and Valley volleyball

The regular season has come to a close for the Weston Silver Eagle Girls Volleyball team and the focus now shifts to the post-season. Weston had some positive moments last week but still fell in four sets to Wauzeka and in five sets at North Crawford to close out the conference schedule.
