The regular season and the conference season both came to an end last week for an improving Reedsburg Beaver Girls Golf team with Reedsburg one of seven schools competing in the season ending Badger Small Meet at Christmas Mountain, near Wisconsin Dells.
The Reedsburg Beaver Boys Soccer program is in the midst of a lengthy home-stand and it continued last Tuesday at RAHS but the Beavers fell to conference rival Edgewood by a count of 2-0.
Reedsburg had only one opportunity for a home meet during this high school cross country season and that was over the weekend with the Hartje Center hosting the Annual Reedsburg Invitational.
The offense was humming.
The defense was sublime.
And Sauk Prairie’s girls volleyball team shined last Saturday when it won the Monona Grove Invitational.
The Eagles went 5-0 on the day, won all 10 sets and rolled to the team title. Sauk Prairie is now 18-4 overall this season.
There are Happy Homecomings.
Then there are homecomings where everyone is downright euphoric.
Wisconsin Heights’ football team experienced the latter last Friday.
Cody Blicharz dominated on offense, John Reader and Damien Henning were sensational on defense and the Vanguards routed Kickapoo/La Farge, 50-0.
Big plays on offense are the calling card for Mount Horeb/Barneveld’s football team, and the Vikings got a few of those Friday night against Sauk Prairie.
But just a few.
And all in the first half.
Cooper Shipman and the Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys soccer team went 1-1-1 last week.
The Vanguards defeated Mauston, 6-1, on Sept. 23. Heights/Barneveld dropped a 3-2 decision to Lakeside Lutheran on Sept. 24, then the Vanguards tied River Valley, 0-0, on Sept. 26
The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys cross country team finished in 44th place at the star-studded, 52-team Midwest Invitational last Saturday.
Kirk Caminiti was the Vanguards’ top finisher, placing 102nd overall and finishing the 5,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 7.5 seconds.
Sauk Prairie’s girls cross country team won the Baraboo Thunderbird Challenge on Sept. 24.
The Eagles finished with 29 points, while Baraboo (49), Poynette (74) and Mauston (99) rounded out the four-team field.
It marked the fourth straight year Sauk Prairie won this event.
