The boys of summer are back. With the weather heating up, the Home Talent League is ready for another season of amateur baseball in Southern Wisconsin. Perennial power Sauk Prairie opens the new Sunday League season — which includes 42 teams this year — hosting Middleton at Chuck Hall Memorial Field on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Sauk Prairie’s baseball team had an extremely busy week, going 2-3 in a five-game stretch. Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ week: • McFarland 9, Sauk Prairie 2 — The visiting Spartans erased a 2-0 deficit with a six-run fifth inning and pulled away from the Eagles on May 6.

The postseason is just around the corner. And Sauk Prairie’s boys golf team is performing at an extremely high level as the playoffs near. The Eagles finished in second place last week at a Badger Conference Small Mini-Meet held at Reedsburg on May 7. Sauk Prairie then was second at its own 15-team invite on May 8.

See you down the road. That’s how the girls soccer teams from both Sauk Prairie and DeForest undoubtedly felt after the two teams played to a scoreless draw on May 9.

Sauk Prairie’s boys tennis team had an extremely busy week, with seven matches in a six-day window. The good news is the Eagles finished their week in style with a 4-3 win over Green Bay Preble. The bad news is Sauk Prairie lost its first six matches of the week. Here’s a recap of Sauk Prairie’s week:

Sauk Prairie’s boys lacrosse team received the No. 15 seed in its sectional and will host 18th-seeded Brookfield Central/East in a regional quarterfinal on May 24. The winner of that game travels to second-seeded Kettle Moraine/St. John’s Northwestern for a regional semifinal on May 28.

The path will be daunting. Then again, that’s what happens when the regular season doesn’t go quite like you’d hoped. Sauk Prairie’s girls softball team received the No. 8 seed in its half of the sectional. The Eagles host ninth-seeded Sparta Thursday at 5 p.m. in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal.

Sauk Prairie’s track teams continue to shine, even when the weather becomes dark. The Eagles’ girls finished in second place at the rain-soaked, nine-team Wisconsin Dells Invite on May 10. DeForest won the team title with 147.5 points, while Sauk Prairie (131.33), Ripon (100.5), Portage (80.3) and Marshall (56.3) rounded out the top five.

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys track and field team finished in fourth place at the Raider Invitational held at Belleville High School on May 10. Lodi won the team title with 192 points, while the Vanguards finished with 65.0 points. Lodi also won the girls’ title with 136.5 points. Heights/Barneveld was sixth with 40.5 points.

Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team dropped three games last week. Here’s a recap of the Vanguards’ week. • Pecatonica 7, Wisconsin Heights 1 — Zac Sander, River Lubchansky and Quinn Payne all went 2-for-2, but it wasn’t enough for the Vanguards on May 7.
