Softball Vanguards win twice

Wisconsin Heights softball coach Scott Wood knew his team would make strides throughout the season. That’s what happens when you have one of the youngest teams in the state. Wood’s Vanguards took a big step forward last week, winning two of their four games. Heights is now 3-15 overall and 2-5 in the Capitol South Conference.

Reedsburg Beaver Boys Tennis is enjoying one of its most successful seasons as a team in recent memory, improving to 6-2 overall for the dual match season last week with wins over Sauk-Prairie, La Crosse Logan and La Crosse Central last week.

Holtz Excavating is the team champion this week on night No. 4 of the Monday Night men’s golf league at the Reedsburg Country Club.

Beaver soccer loses to Edgewood

Reedsburg has had some practice time this past week with only 1 match for the Reedsburg Beaver girls soccer team and that was a 1-0 loss on the road against Edgewood last Tuesday as Reedsburg fell to 0-3 in the conference and 1-8 overall. Reedsburg’s match at Sparta for this past Friday was postponed.

Weston baseball misses out on 3 game opportunities in 7 days

The Weston Silver Eagle Baseball team was unable to take the field three times in a row where scheduled games were on the team’s original slate.

Weston was originally set to host Wonewoc-Center in a non-conference on April 30 but that game was cancelled.

Powell, Johnson go under 90 for Beaver boys golf team

The Beaver Boys Golf Team has spent a lot of time on the road of late with meets on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday last week before getting some home cooking this week, if the weather cooperates.

Reedsburg was part of a large field of teams at the Holmes Invite on Wednesday at the Cedar Creek course.

Miller sets new school record for Ithaca/Weston track


Kaylee Miller, pictured here, broke the program record with a high jump of 5 feet, three inches for the Ithaca/Weston Girls Track and Field co-op at Saturday’s Ginger Morey Invite at Riverdale High School. (Photo by Lisa Clary)

It was back-to-back meets for the Ithaca/Weston co-op track and field teams with most of the top of the line athletes competing with little or no rest and recovery time in between. Despite that situation, there were many outstanding efforts both days from the I/W crew with a new program record set on Saturday.

Beavers split 4 league games on softball diamond

Thanks in part to postponements, it’s another very busy stretch in the schedule for Beaver Softball as the regular season begins to wind down.

Reedsburg had three games this past week, including back-to-back days, and could play as many as 6 games this week if Mother Nature cooperates.
