Miller sets new school record for Ithaca/Weston track

It was back-to-back meets for the Ithaca/Weston co-op track and field teams with most of the top of the line athletes competing with little or no rest and recovery time in between. Despite that situation, there were many outstanding efforts both days from the I/W crew with a new program record set on Saturday.

Beavers split 4 league games on softball diamond

Thanks in part to postponements, it’s another very busy stretch in the schedule for Beaver Softball as the regular season begins to wind down.

Reedsburg had three games this past week, including back-to-back days, and could play as many as 6 games this week if Mother Nature cooperates.

Getting their kicks

Sauk Prairie’s girls soccer team had a showdown with DeForest Tuesday night. And the Eagles wento int that game with a full head of steam. Sauk Prairie pushed its winning streak to four games last week with victories over Reedsburg, Portage/Poynette and Tomah. Sauk Prairie is now 8-2 overall and leads the Badger Small Conference with a 4-0 record.

Tennis Eagles keep making strides

Sauk Prairie’s boys tennis team finished in eighth place at the Stoughton Invite last Saturday. There was a lot for the Eagles to feel good about, though. “We had five of our seven positions play in at least one tiebreak throughout the day, and came home with four individual wins,” Sauk Prairie coach Morgan Lee said.

Baseball Vanguards top Monticello/Albany

Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team defeated Monticello/Albany, 2-0, on April 29. The Vanguards then dropped a 9-7 decision to Marshall on April 30 and a 7-2 game to Marshall on May 1. Heights is now 2-12 on the year and 0-7 in the Capitol South Conference. Here’s a recap of the Vanguards’ week.

Heights boys track team 10th at Deerfield

The Wisconsin Heights boys track and field team finished in 10th place at the 18-team Deerfield Classic last Friday. The Vanguards’ girls finished in 13th place. Belleville won the boys title with 87 points, while Heights finished with 31 points. Deerfield was the girls’ champion with 109 points, while the Vanguards’ had 30 points.
