Heights boys split a pair

Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team split a pair of games last week. The Vanguards defeated Poynette, 58-49, on Jan. 7. Cambridge then toppled Heights, 75-30,  on Jan. 10. The Vanguards fell to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in the Capitol South Conference.

Heights girls top West, fall to Belleville

Wisconsin Heights’ girls basketball team split a pair of games last week. The Vanguards defeated Madison West, 55-39, on Jan. 7 and fell to Belleville, 66-30, on Jan. 9. Heights is now 6-3 this season and 0-1 in the Capitol South Conference.

Hockey Eagles win two of three

Sauk Prairie’s boys hockey team won two of three games last week. The Eagles — who also have players from Mount Horeb, Barneveld, River Valley and Wisconsin Heights — defeated Monroe, 5-4 in overtime on Jan. 7, fell to Waupun, 5-2, on Jan. 9, and toppled Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells, 6-3, on Jan. 11.

Swimmers cruise by Vikings

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimmers rolled past Mount Horeb, 127-6, on Jan. 7. The Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay team of Reid Rinabarger, Connor McQueen, Caleb Gregg and Adam Kaukl was first, while the quartet of Levi Shadewald, Quintin Larsen, Ethan Goodman and Jacob Klein was second.

Wrestlers 10th at Sauk Invite

The Sauk Prairie-Wisconsin Heights wrestling team finished in 10th place at the 22-team Sauk Prairie Invite last Saturday. Seymour won the event with 275.0 points, while Oconomowoc was second (185.0). Mauston (162.0), Beaver Dam (161.0) and Sparta (153.5) rounded out the top five. Sauk-Heights finished with 132.0 points.

Sauk Prairie boys get mixed results

Sauk Prairie’s boys basketball team split a pair of games last week. The Eagles defeated Monroe, 67-52, on Jan. 7. Baraboo then rolled past Sauk Prairie, 71-46, on Jan. 9. The Eagles are now 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the Badger Small Conference. Here’s a recap of Sauk Prairie’s week.

Eagles fall to Mount Horeb, part 2

Sauk Prairie’s boys basketball team put together its first three-game winning streak of the season over the holidays. The Eagles rolled past host Dodgeville, 63-52, on Dec. 17 and won at Janesville Parker, 67-53, on Dec. 28. Sauk Prairie then cruised past Portage, 77-37, on Jan. 3.

Heights girls moving on up

Tyler Fuchs is in his third season coaching Wisconsin Height’s girls basketball team. In his first two seasons, the Vanguards won four games a year. So when Heights captured a pair of games last week and bumped their win total to five, everyone in the program was naturally thrilled.
