That saying was never more appropriate than in the opening round of the Home Talent League Northern Section playoffs on Sunday afternoon.
The Sauk Prairie Pool Sharks took third place at the Tri-County Conference meet last weekend. Clockwise from top:
• Cameron Johnson was part of Sauk Prairie’s first place 8-and-under 100-meter medley relay team.
• Daniel Klein was on two relay teams — the 200-meter freestyle and the 200-meter medley — that both took fourth place.
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association competitive balance initiative completed its first full year of applying the performance factor for division placements, which will begin with the 2024-25 sports seasons.
The record-setting long win streak for Reedsburg Pirates Baseball came to an end on Sunday. Reedsburg won its 16th game in a row in Home Talent Baseball last Thursday against Arena but the lengthy streak came to a halt at Ashton in the regular season finale for Sunday League play.
Over 10 Reedsburg baseball players, along with multiple coaches, got to experience some lifetime memories this past weekend as Reedsburg was one of nine teams from five different states competing in the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament for U-18 Babe Ruth Baseball in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Cazenovia Reds played twice at home this past weekend as part of the Cazenovia Celebration festivities at the Cazenovia Memorial Park but unfortunately for the home team, both games resulted in a loss.
CROSS PLAINS — Black Earth manager Eric Duhr was hoping his Bombers could extend their Home Talent League amateur baseball season at least one more game last Sunday for two reasons.
The regular season went about as well as anyone could have imagined.
Now, Sauk Prairie’s Home Talent League team is hoping for similar success in the postseason.
