Viola hits all the right notes

First up for MariElla Viola the WIAA Division 1 Sauk Prairie Sectional track and field meet on May 23 was the 100-yard dash. Viola took fourth, narrowly missing out on one of the top three state-qualifying spots. Next was the 800-meter relay. Viola and her Sauk Prairie teammates also took fourth, again just missing out on a trip to La Crosse.

Softball Eagles eliminated by Mount Horeb

Mount Horeb’s girls softball team was the No. 1 seed in its sectional. And Sauk Prairie found out why on May 22. The host Vikings rolled past the Eagles, 10-0, in a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal. The game was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Season ends for Eagles’ tennis team

Sauk Prairie’s top doubles team of Ayden Wildman and Sebastian Gavol came within one win of reaching the state tournament. But Wildman and Gavol dropped a 7-5, 6-4 match to Reedsburg’s Simon Wenninger and Jordan Matyas during the Madison Memorial Sectional on May 22.
