The phrase “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” has been associated with the American postal workers foe generations.

First up for MariElla Viola the WIAA Division 1 Sauk Prairie Sectional track and field meet on May 23 was the 100-yard dash. Viola took fourth, narrowly missing out on one of the top three state-qualifying spots. Next was the 800-meter relay. Viola and her Sauk Prairie teammates also took fourth, again just missing out on a trip to La Crosse.

They played their best game of the season at the perfect time. Unfortunately for Wisconsin Heights’ softball team, it wasn’t enough.

The Wisconsin Heights track and field teams sent several athletes to the WIAA Division 2 Portage Sectional on May 23. But the Vanguards failed to have anyone advance to this weekend’s state tournament in La Crosse. The top three finishers in each event earned a trip to state. Here’s how the Vanguards fared:   BOYS

It was a tough year for Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team. And the end to the season on May 23 might have been the toughest blow yet.

There is always great debate which conference is the strongest in each particular sport. When it comes to girls soccer, though, there’s no disputing that the Badger Small Conference is in the discussion as the state’s premier league.

Austin Pagel wasn’t ready to go home. Neither was Jackson Breunig. Sauk Prairie’s duo both threw extremely well and led the Eagles past Wisconsin Dells, 5-2, in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal on May 23.

Mount Horeb’s girls softball team was the No. 1 seed in its sectional. And Sauk Prairie found out why on May 22. The host Vikings rolled past the Eagles, 10-0, in a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal. The game was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Sauk Prairie’s top doubles team of Ayden Wildman and Sebastian Gavol came within one win of reaching the state tournament. But Wildman and Gavol dropped a 7-5, 6-4 match to Reedsburg’s Simon Wenninger and Jordan Matyas during the Madison Memorial Sectional on May 22.
