Sauk Prairie golfers sixth at conference mini-meet

The Badger Small Conference golf race is wide open. And despite a sixth place finish at a conference mini-meet held at Yahara Hills last Thursday, Sauk Prairie remains in the mix for a league title. Madison Edgewood won the meet with a 324 team score, while the Eagles were sixth at 336.

Big week!

Kate Himebach (89) and Sauk Prairie’s girls soccer team won a pair of games last week. The Eagles defeated McFarland, 1-0, on April 23. Sauk Prairie also edged Monona Grove, 2-1, on April 25. Sauk Prairie is now 5-2-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Badger Small Conference.

Eagles’ boys lacrosse team splits four games

Sauk Prairie’s boys lacrosse team split four games last week. Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ week: • Oregon 8, Sauk Prairie 3 — Sophomore attackers Zander Kellogg and Drew Strathman both had one goal and one assist in the Eagles’ loss on April 22. Kaleb Chetwood, another sophomore attacker, added a goal for Sauk Prairie.

Girls co-op lacrosse team splits two games

The DeForest co-op lacrosse team, which includes players from Sauk Prairie, split a pair of games last week. Waunakee downed DeForest, 12-6, on April 22. The Norskies then defeated Watertown, 14-6, on April 25. • Waunakee 12, DeForest 6 — The Norskies fell to the visiting Warriors in an exciting contest.

Weston, Royall and Melrose-Mindoro all braved temps in the 30’s and windy conditions as well in Elroy Saturday in high school baseball action at the Royall Invitational with all the teams playing 2 games.

Golf League opens at Country Club

April 15 was the opening night of the Reedsburg Men’s Golf League season at the Reedsburg Country Club with the RCC Pro Shop, Cross Jenks, Mercer and Maffei along with G6 Lawn Hydration all sharing first place as the top three teams.

Individual prize winners included Dan Hennig, Bernie Andres, Marques Crary and Ryan Olson.

Beaver track teams perform well at blustery Betsy DeMerit Invite

Despite temps in the 40’s and howling winds out of the north, the Annual Betsy DeMerit Track Invitational was held Friday at RAHS and it winds up being the only home meet of the year as Tuesday’s quad was cancelled due to inclement weather.
