Boy Blackhawks win two at home

The River Valley High School varsity boys played two games at home for two wins this past week. Tuesday night River Valley had a very close game against Reedsburg. River Valley had a slim lead of 29-27 at the half and managed to take the win with a final score of 50-45.

Heights girls back in the win column

The drought was brutal. Fifty five days, to be exact. Wisconsin Heights’ girls basketball team had lost six straight games during a nearly eight-week span. But the Vanguards ended that skid last week by playing much better basketball.

Sauk Prairie’s boys notch a pair of wins

The gauntlet has arrived. In a 12-day window, Sauk Prairie’s boys basketball team will play six games. “This is where we have to be really locked in and hopefully play some great basketball against quality teams,” Eagles’ coach Sean McGann said. Sauk Prairie was certainly locked in last week.

Eagles’ girls drop a pair

The end result wasn’t what they wanted. But Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team certainly wasn’t disappointed with their performances last week. The Eagles dropped a 62-52 decision to McFarland on Jan. 23. Sauk Prairie then fell to Lake Mills, 48-42, last Saturday.

Eagles’ swimmers second at Invite

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimming team has made great strides throughout the season. And with the postseason coming fast, the Eagles continue to impress. Sauk/Heights finished second at the 10-team Battle on the Rock Invitational held last Saturday at Beloit Memorial High School.

Hockey team wins 2 of 3

Sauk Prairie’s hockey team — which also consists of Mount Horeb, Barneveld, River Valley and Wisconsin Heights — won two of three games last week. The Vikings defeated Baraboo/Portage, 5-0, on Jan. 23. Sauk Prairie also edged Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells, 2-0, on Jan. 25 and dropped a 4-0 decision to Madison West on Jan. 29.

Gymnasts 9th at Spartan Invite

Sauk Prairie’s gymnasts finished in ninth place at the 19-team Madison Memorial Invite last Saturday. Franklin/Muskego won the team title with a score of 145.30, while the Eagles posted a 130.475 team score.

Sauk Prairie wrestlers fall to Baraboo, Stoughton

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights wrestlers fell to Stoughton, 40-27, last Friday. The Eagles were also edged by Baraboo, 40-33, last Thursday. Wisconsin Heights boys lose twice

It was a tough week for Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team. The Vanguards dropped a 73-38 decision at Waterloo on Jan. 23. Marshall then won at Heights, 67-53, last Saturday. Here’s a recap of the Vanguards’ week: • Waterloo 73, Wisconsin Heights 38 — The Pirates raced to leads of 14-2 early, 41-18 by halftime and rolled to an easy win.

RWD splits pair of Badger Small games

Senior Night made for good feelings all around last Tuesday night for the RWD boys hockey team and those feelings were more special after a conference victory over Stoughton at RACA. RWD played a good Sauk team two nights later and fell short for a split of the two games for the week.
