The most important week of the Reedsburg Beaver wrestling season had a very satisfying beginning and a very satisfying ending and as a result, there will be much more wrestling to come this season for the guys wearing the Reedsburg singlets.

The Beaver boys basketball team came into last Tuesday badly in need of a victory and with the help of two returning injured starters, Reedsburg got that needed win as they rallied for a 74-63 win over the Portage Warriors at RAHS.

Fighting hard right to the end. That’s what the RWD Miners boys hockey team has done all year and it continued last week when the 11-seed Miners played an opening round WIAA Tournament game in Madison against six-seed Madison West. The teams battled into overtime before West came away with a hard-fought 2-1 victory to keep its season alive.

The WIAA Board of Control has voted to require that only females at birth will be allowed to play in girls sports.

The vote follows federal directives, and also stems from recent actions taken by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Parents are asked to attend a meeting if their high school student plans to play baseball at RAHS this spring.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. March 6 at the high school. It is open to parents of players who will be in Grades 9-12 and will cover the upcoming 2025 season.

The Badger Lightning area high school girls hockey co-op is still alive after advancing in the WIAA Tournament series last week with a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Icebergs from Stoughton in Baraboo.

The Reedsburg Beaver Gymnasts had one final tune-up before the post-season on Saturday with the Badger Conference Meet in Watertown. In team scoring, Reedsburg was seventh among the eight schools with a respectable team score of 125.45, ahead of only the Milton co-op.
