For the sixteenth consecutive year, the Wisconsin Freedom of Information Council is presenting its Openness Awards, or Opees, to recognize outstanding efforts to protect the state’s tradition of open government, as well as some of the threats to it.

The Reedsburg Kiwanis would like to thank the community for its support of our recent pancake breakfast at the Reedsburg Boys and Girls Club. Thanks to that support, Kiwanis was able to donate $600 to the Boys and Girls Club.

Gabe Bauer has lived his entire life in this area. He was educated in the Reedsburg School District: K-6 at La Valle, then middle school and Webb High School. For 4.5 years he attended UW-Eau Claire where he studied physics. He completed the CESA Substitute Teacher Training.

Am I heartless if I enjoy the pie I got at the library today? Millions of families are fleeing brutal bombing in Ukraine. They have left their homes and their belongings behind, escaping with their children and their pets and perhaps one suitcase. Little money, no food, and certainly no pie.

Social media can be a honeybee or a hornet. When it works, it spreads useful information, promotes positive change and encourages fruitful thoughts and behaviors. When it doesn’t, everyone gets stung.

I have to thank Brian Brown for providing a valuable example of the viewpoint of a religious person. He wants religious liberty but, like many Christians, to him that means the right to have a Christian viewpoint be the center of our government and our society.
