The streak is over.
And a much better one has begun for Wisconsin Heights’ girls basketball team.
The Vanguards snapped a four-game losing streak with a 47-41 win over Dodgeville on Jan. 28. Heights followed that with a 68-47 dismantling of Waterloo on Jan. 31.
The Vanguards are now 9-7 overall and 1-4 in the Capitol South Conference.
Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team split a pair of games last week.
The Eagles defeated Mount Horeb, 55-45, on Jan. 28. Sauk Prairie then fell to Stoughton, 60-47, on Feb. 1.
Sauk Prairie is now 9-8 overall and 6-4 in the Badger Small Conference.

Sauk Prairie’s boys basketball team led visiting Reedsburg most of the game on Jan. 30.
The Beavers rallied late, though, and knocked off the Eagles, 67-63.
Sauk Prairie fell to 9-8 overall and 3-5 in the Badger Small Conference. Reedsburg improved to 8-9, 3-5.

Former Sauk Prairie and Wisconsin Heights girls volleyball coach Amy Schlimgen recently held camps in Sauk Prairie.

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimming and diving team defeated Stoughton, 101-69, on Jan. 28. The Eagles finished their conference dual meet season with a 4-1 mark.
The Eagles had first place finishes in four individual events and one relay. But Sauk/Heights’ depth helped it defeat the Vikings.
Sauk Prairie’s co-op hockey team skated past Madison West, 4-2, on Jan. 31.
Landon Froese had two goals to lead the Eagles, who have skaters from Sauk Prairie, Mount Horeb, Wisconsin Heights and River Valley.
Reedsburg Beaver Head Wrestling Coach Rob Bautch was proud of the way his team performed on Saturday at the Sparta Invitational. Reedsburg had two individual champions, two others that reached the finals, and a second-place team finish in very strong 16-team field.
Reedsburg wound up with two long road trips in three days last week in boys hoops action after last Tuesday’s game at La Crosse Logan was postponed until Tuesday due to extreme cold early last week. Reedsburg lost a tough one at Logan, 58-53 to begin the road trip.
