For the past 24 years, countless volunteers and donors have discovered the joy of sharing through Reedsburg Area Helping Hands (RAHH). Amidst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season something amazing happens.

I confess: There’s a part of me that dreads the Christmas season.

It’s become so chaotic, so busy. There’s the rush to get work and personal tasks done before everyone heads home for the holidays. You can’t fault anyone for it because I think we’d all prefer to work ahead so we can enjoy that time off with family and friends.

I’m ready! The light can return any time now! I am tired of these early twilights and the long, dark evenings. The Saturnalia, the Winter Solstice and the celebration of the birth of Christ have arrived just in time. The world has reached its darkest time, and we long for the light.

Two thousand years ago three wise men undertook an arduous journey to seek a newborn child.  Christmas stories, old and new, warm the hearts of many this time of year no matter how cold the temperature. Stores are filled with shoppers vying for presents to cheer loved ones and friends.
